The Common Bream is a prevalent freshwater game fish in the Cyprinidae family. It is widely found in temperate lakes, slow-flowing rivers, and canals throughout most of Europe and as far east as the Black and Aral seas. The species feeds on small aquatic insects, invertebrates, bottom-dwelling bivalves, gastropods, plants, and plankton. Common breams are often found in schools near the bottom of bodies of water and have a characteristic disc-like shape with a sharp dorsal fin. Bream spawns between April and June when water temperatures are around 17 °C.
